Kamla Nehru College for Women celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm and participation on the college campus. The event aimed to promote women empowerment and highlight the significant role of women in society.
The programme was organized jointly by the Red Ribbon Club, NSS, and NCC.Around 100 students actively participated in the celebration and various activities conducted during the event.
The resource person, Sanjana Walia, Head, Department of Commerce, delivered an inspiring talk highlighting the achievements of great Indian women. She spoke about the remarkable contributions of Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman IPS officer, and shared insights into her dedication, discipline, and achievements in police service and social reforms. She also discussed the inspiring journey of Tessy Thomas, popularly known as the Missile Woman of India, who played a significant role in India’s missile development programme. Her speech motivated students to believe in their abilities and work towards achieving their goals with determination.
As part of the celebration, a “One Minute Challenge” activity was organized where students spoke on the topics “Women Can Do Anything” and “My Role Model.” The activity encouraged students to express their thoughts on women empowerment and share inspiring stories of influential women in their lives.
The event was coordinated by the Red Ribbon Club In-charges Ms. Priyanka and Ms. Khushi, NSS Programme Officers Ms. Nidhi and Dr. Tavisha, and NCC CTO Ms. Khushi, who ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.
Dr Savinder Pal, appreciated the efforts of the organizers and encouraged students to continue promoting the values of equality, confidence, and empowerment among women.
