International Mother Language Day celebrated at KNCW

International Mother Language Day was celebrated on Wednesday at Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara by the PG Department of Punjabi. On the occasion Mr. Kulwinder Khera, a famous Punjabi writer from Canada was the guests during the celebration.  Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khera talked about the importance mother tongue Punjabi and motivated the students to feel proud of it. He also added that in places like Canada, Punjabi is making its presence felt like never before.

To mark the occasion, various literary competitions were organized for the students. These included Poetry Writing, Story Writing, Poetry recitation and Poetry Poster Competition. The winners of the competitions were also given awards by Mr. Khera. Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Walia welcomed both the guests and thanked them for their valuable advice for the students. She also encouraged the students to respect their mother tongue and uplift its pride.  Head of Punjabi department Dr. Ruminder Kaur the entire faculty thanked the guests while Ms. Rajni conducted the stage.
