Constitution Day celebrated at KNC

Commemorating the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar, Constitution Day was celebrated by NSS unit at Kamla Nehru Junior College for Women, Phagwara. The students of classes 11 and 12 attended the event. It may be mentioned that as per the orders of the Government of India, November 26 is to be celebrated as Constitution Day in memory of Dr. Ambedkar.  On the event a lecture on ‘Importance of Preamble in Indian Constitution’ was delivered by Dr. Rinka from PG Department of Political Science of the college. In the talk she threw light on the Fundamental Rights provided to each citizen without any discrimination of colour, cast, creed, religion and the importance of preamble in India constitution. Ms. Rajni, Program Officer NSS talked about the Fundamental duties, which every citizen must abide while enjoying their rights.Meanwhile, making the institution proud, Sharanjit Kaur, a student of class 11 of the college secured first position in essay writing competition organized by Punjab Dairy Development Board. The competition was held amongst the students of senior secondary schools across Punjab and its topic was ‘Importance of milk in Human life’. For securing first position, she was received a cash prize of Rs.3000, a certificate and a trophy from Sangrur DC Amar Partap Singh Virk during a prize distribution function held on Sunday.

College Principal Dr. Kiran Walia congratulated Sharanjit on the achievement and wished her all the best for future.
