‘Teeyan Da Mela’
On August 14, 2025, under the able leadership of Kamla Nehru Education Trust President Mr. Dheeraj Sardana, General Secretary Mr. Ramesh Jain, and Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, the Punjabi Department of Kamla Nehru College for Women organized the vibrant celebration of Teeyan Da Mela.The chief guest for the occasion was Mrs. Baljeet Kaur, an alumna of the college, boxer with Punjab Police, and Head Constable at PAP Sports Wing.
The event was graced by special guests including alumnae Mrs. Poonam Puri, Mrs. Daljeet Kaur Channa, Lecturer at the Senior Secondary School, and Mrs. Pushpa, who were warmly welcomed upon arrival. Principal Mrs. Kiranjeet Randhawa from Mohan Lal Uppal DAV College, Coach Mr. Jasvir Singh, and Mr. Guraikbal Singh were also present.
On this occasion, Baljeet Kaur was specially honoured by Mrs. Poonam Puri on behalf of the college management for her remarkable achievement of winning a silver medal at the Asian Games held in Vietnam, along with her coach Mr. Jasvir Singh. The mela featured food stalls, games, mehndi, nail art, bangles, and an attractive suit stall set up by Rivaz Showroom , Ludhiana, which drew much interest from the students.
Students enthralled the audience with choreographies, skits, folk songs, Luddi, Giddha, and the humorous dances of Bazigarnis, leaving everyone delighted. Around 800 students attended the event.
Special guest Mrs. Daljeet Kaur Channa fondly recalled her college days and encouraged students to dream big and pursue those dreams with determination. Baljeet Kaur also shared her college memories, expressing gratitude to the college management, Principal, Punjabi Department, and Coach Mr. Jasvir Singh.
Prof. Vatandeep Kaur and student Palak won the title of Fair Diva.
In her address, Principal Dr. Savinder Pal thanked the guests and urged students to stay connected with their culture and revive their rich heritage.
