Home Science Association of Kamla Nehru College for Women Hosts Enlightening Lecture-Cum-Workshop on “Millets: A Sustainable Superfood”*

Under the esteemed guidance of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, the Home Science Association of Kamla Nehru College for Women organized a comprehensive lecture-cum-workshop under the aegies of IQAC on “Millets: A Sustainable Superfood” on April 9, 2025. The event featured Ms. Aatma Singh, Head of the Department of Home Science at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, as the keynote speaker.

The lecture provided an in-depth exploration of the nutritional and environmental benefits of millets, highlighting their significance in promoting health and sustainability. The subsequent workshop offered a hands-on experience, where participants enthusiastically learned to prepare innovative millet-based dishes, including millet dosa, millet idli, and millet cake. The attendees displayed keen interest in learning these recipes, showcasing the versatility of millets and their seamless integration into daily meals.
Approximately 50 attendees, comprising students and faculty members, actively participated in the session, engaging in discussions on the health benefits of millets as a gluten-free and eco-friendly alternative to conventional grains. The successful event reinforced Kamla Nehru College’s commitment to promoting sustainable living and healthy dietary practices within the community. Principal Dr. Savinder Pal extended her sincere appreciation to the organizing team for their outstanding efforts in successfully hosting a highly enriching lecture-cum-workshop. She also encouraged the student’s to incorporate millets into their diet, highlighting the numerous health benefits associated with regular consumption.
