Extension Lecture on the Life and Teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

As part of the ongoing observance of the 350th Shaheedi Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the symbol of unity and integrity of India, the NSS Unit of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, organized an extension lecture on “The Life and Teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib” on 8 November 2025. The event aimed to inspire students with the values of sacrifice, courage, and national unity.

The lecture was delivered by Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, who highlighted the spiritual, moral, and historical significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the ninth Guru of the Sikhs. She shared that Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the son of Guru Hargobind Sahib and the father of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, earned the revered name “Tegh Bahadur” for his exceptional bravery in one of the battles.

Dr. Savinder Pal further spoke about the years of deep meditation of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib at Baba Bakala, his association with Baba Budha Sahib, and his humble life devoted to truth and humanity. She emphasized Guru Sahib’s supreme sacrifice to protect freedom of faith, earning him the title ‘Hind Di Chadar,’ and connected his teachings with the ideals of unity, tolerance, and national integration.

The lecture also reflected on the spiritual contributions of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib to Sikh scripture, including 15 Ragas and 57 Saloks recorded in the Guru Granth Sahib, particularly in Raga Jaijawanti.

The session was attended by NSS Programme Officer Ms. Nidhi Jassal, Dr. Tavisha, and 120 NSS volunteers. It concluded with a message encouraging the volunteers to uphold the spirit of service, harmony, and unity by following the path shown by Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.
