Extension Lecture on the Life and Teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the symbol of unity and integrity of India, the NSS Unit of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, organized an extension lecture on the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib on 29th October 2025. The event aimed to inspire students with the values of sacrifice, courage, and national unity.
The Extension lecture was delivered by Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, who highlighted the spiritual, moral, and historical significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the ninth Guru of the Sikhs. She shared that Guru Ji was the son of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and the father of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and that his bravery in battle earned him the revered name “Tegh Bahadur”.
Dr. Savinder Pal further spoke about Guru Ji’s years of deep meditation at Baba Bakala, his association with Baba Budha Ji, and his humble life devoted to truth and humanity. She emphasized his supreme sacrifice to protect freedom of faith, earning him the title “Hind Di Chadar”, and connected his teachings with the ideals of unity, tolerance, and national integration.
The lecture also reflected on Guru Ji’s spiritual contributions to Sikh scripture, including 15 Raags and Slokas written in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, particularly in Raag Jai Jai Wanti.
In this lecture, NSS Programme Officer Ms. Nidhi Jassal and Dr. Tavisha were also present along with the 120 NSS volunteers. The session concluded with a message encouraging the volunteers to uphold the spirit of service, harmony, and unity, following the path shown by Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
