Celebration of Ozone Layer Preservation Day

The Science Department, in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club and ECO Club, celebrated “Ozone Layer Preservation Day” on 16th September 2025 under the guidance of Principal Dr.Savinder Pal with great enthusiasm and a strong message of environmental responsibility. The main theme of the program was “From Science to Global Action”, focusing on raising awareness. The event witnessed the presence of nearly 100 members, including students and faculty. An Extension Lecture was delivered by Dr. Punit Puri, HOD of the Zoology Department, DAV College Jalandhar, who shared valuable insights on the science behind the ozone layer, its importance, the causes of its depletion, and actionable measures to save it. The event also included a Poster Rally and an Eco-Creative Plantation Drive, in which around 100 students actively participated. Every participant took a Green Pledge, committing to eco-friendly habits and environmental protection. In the Eco-Creative Plantation Drive competition, the team of Muskan, Palak, Simranjeet, Madhavi, and Nancy Gandhi from B.Sc Sem 1 secured the First Position. The Second Position was awarded to Gurman, Rachna, Rakhi, and Gurdeep Suman from B.Sc Sem 3, while Lavleen, Palakdeep, and Manraj from B.Sc Sem 3 earned the Third Position. The Consolation Prize went to Bhavani, Janvi, Harshdeep Kaur, Harleen Kaur, and Prachi Bajaj of B.Sc Sem 1.

Dr. Savinder Pal, Principal of the College, appreciated the efforts of students and faculty members in organizing such an enlightening event. He awarded medals to the prize winners and motivated students to take active part in environmental initiatives, urging them to turn their awareness into meaningful global action. The event concluded successfully, inspiring students to remain committed to protecting the planet.
