Plantation Drive
In a significant move toward environmental sustainability and community outreach, the Eco Club of Kamla Nehru College for Women on April 03, 2026 organized a comprehensive plantation drive across adopted village Khurumpur today under the guidance of Director Academics Dr. SavinderPal and Officiating Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur. Led by Dr. Priyanka Aeri, Nodal officer of Eco club, Dr. Tavisha and Ms. Isha Bhardwaj along with enthusiastic student volunteers, the initiative aimed to enhance the green cover of the region and sensitize rural communities about climate change.
The drive was strategically designed to cover high-impact public spaces, ensuring that the benefits of the new saplings reach the maximum number of residents. The enthusiastic student volunteers visited the Panchayat Ghar of Khurampur village, where they planted shade-giving trees to provide comfort for community gatherings, and revitalized local parks with a variety of flowering shrubs to enhance recreational spaces for families. Extending their mission to the outskirts of the villages, the team also focused on village crematoriums, planting hardy, long-lived trees to provide much-needed canopy and restore ecological balance to these sensitive areas. By engaging directly with local residents and village leaders, the college not only increased the region’s green cover but also successfully sowed the seeds of environmental consciousness and shared responsibility within the rural community. Officiating

She emphasized that such initiatives are essential for character building and social responsibility, encouraging the entire college community to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
