World AIDS Day
Under the able guidance of the respected Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal, the NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of the college commemorated AIDS Day on 1st December with deep commitment and social responsibility. The programme centred around this year’s global theme, “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,” aimed to enhance awareness among students regarding HIV/AIDS prevention, stigma reduction, and the importance of collective responsibility in building a healthier society.
An Extension Lecture was organised on this occasion by Dr. Tavisha (Assistant Professor & Prog. Officer of NSS Unit), delivered an insightful and informative session on the current challenges and advancements in the AIDS response. The lecture emphasized how communities can work together to overcome social, economic, and health-related disruptions that hinder effective HIV prevention and care. About 80 students were sensitized about the importance of early testing, safe practices, and the need to eliminate discrimination against individuals living with HIV.
In her address, Principal Dr. Savinder Pal appreciated the efforts of the NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club for organising such an impactful event. She applauded the students for their enthusiastic participation and urged them to act as ambassadors of awareness, helping society move towards a future free from stigma and misinformation.
The programme was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Nidhi Jassal (Prog. Officer of NSS Unit), Dr. Tavisha Singh (Prog. Officer of NSS Unit), Ms. Priyanka (HOD, Dept. of Science), and Ms. Khushi (Assistant Professor, Chemistry), whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth and meaningful execution of the event.
