National Sports Day

Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, celebrated National Sports Day with great zeal and enthusiasm from August 29 to August 30 2025, to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The event was jointly organized by the Sports Club, the Department of Physical Education, and the NSS Unit of the college, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal.

The program was conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, with the active involvement of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Lalit and Ms. Nidhi Jassal, along with Ms. Shubhasmita, Sports Club Incharge.

The celebration commenced with a floral tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, followed by a series of sports competitions, fitness activities, and cultural performances that emphasized the importance of health, discipline, and teamwork. Students enthusiastically participated in athletics, football, kho-kho, badminton, and other recreational sports activities, showcasing energy, enthusiasm, and true sportsmanship.

In her address, Principal Dr. Savinder Pal highlighted the vital role of sports in developing discipline, leadership qualities, and a healthy lifestyle. She, along with Dr. Lalit, Ms. Nidhi Jassal, and Ms. Shubhasmita, encouraged students to actively engage in sports for their holistic growth and development.

The celebration not only paid tribute to India’s rich sporting heritage but also inspired students to imbibe the values of sportsmanship, fitness, and teamwork in their everyday lives.
