International Day for Biological Diversity

International Day for Biological Diversity

The Eco Club of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity by organizing an educational and awareness-driven event in the college’s Audio-Visual Lab where 53 students attended this event. The celebration was designed around the globally crucial theme, “Acting locally for global impact.” The initiative aimed to inspire students to recognize the value of environmental sustainability and understand how small, community-driven actions can create significant positive ripples across global ecosystems.

To engage the student community actively, the Eco Club hosted a dynamic lineup of competitions and learning sessions. Students channelled their creativity in a Poster Making Competition focused on conservation, while participants in the Debate Competition exchanged thought-provoking perspectives on local environmental challenges and solutions. Additionally, the event integrated digital media by sharing and screening impactful nature documentaries, including Forests of Our World: Where Wildlife and Wilderness Thrive and Our Planet – Forests Episode, to deepen the audience’s understanding of wildlife and wilderness preservation.
