World Environment Day
Kamla Nehru College for Women, celebrated World Environment Day on 29th and 31st May 2025 under the aegis of the Punjab Pollution Control Board. The event was a collaborative effort of the ECO Club, Science Department, and NSS unit of the college, focusing on the theme of “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally” and promoting eco-friendly alternatives.
The celebrations commenced on 29th May with a “Green Drive,” wherein students showcased their creativity by crafting and using non-plastic bags, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices. A thought-provoking lecture was delivered by Dr. Priyanka Aeri, Assistant Professor in the Home Science Department, on eco-friendly choices over plastic, inspiring students to adopt greener lifestyles.
The program continued on 31st May with a spirited debate on plastic pollution, followed by an oath-taking ceremony where students pledged to make environment-friendly choices in their daily lives.
In her closing address, Principal Dr. Savinder Pal lauded the efforts of the organizing committees (ECO Club, Science Department, and NSS unit) and the enthusiastic participation of students. She emphasized the significance of such initiatives in nurturing responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully towards environmental conservation.
