Van Mahotsav and Teej Festival celebrated at KNCW
On July 29,2021, with the collaborative efforts of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara Environment Association, HDFC, Forest Department and 8 Punjab Battalion, Van Mahotsav and Teej Festival were celebrated at Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara. S. BalwinderSingh Dhaliwal, MLA Phagwara, S. Sarabjit Singh Bahia, S.P Phagwara and Manager HDFC Bank were heartfully welcomed by Principal Dr. Savinder Pal and the President and Vice President of the College management Mr. Dheeraj Sardana and Mr. Pankaj Sardana. The Van Mahotsav celebrations started with the reception and escorting of the Cheif guests by NCC cadets under the supervision of Dr. Palwinder Randhawa and officers of 8 Punjab Batallion of NCC. The cheif guests were then escorted to the botanical garden where they planted trees along with the faculty members and other guests. Then the chief guests were taken to visit the Cultural Heritage Centre of the college with Phulkari escorting. They congratulated the college on preserving the Cultural Heritage of the college in such a wonderful manner. The Teej Festival celebrations commenced with the lighting of Lamp by the chief guests. Various cultural activities were held during this session namely Giddha Performances by the students of the college and Maa Ambe School,Bhanoki, Suhag Singing, Peengh, Bangle and Mehndi stalls and a musical performance on ‘Saawan’ by Dr. Lalit, Head, Department of Music. Dr. Vanita Chahal, Assistant Professor, Delhi University displayed a PPt named ‘Forest Conservation: A dire need for Humankind’ to create awareness among the students regarding forest conservation. S. Malkiat Singh Raghbotra, General Secretary, Phagwara Environment Association and S. Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, while addressing the students, highlighted the importance of trees and forests in our lives and encouraged them to plant more trees. Dr. Gurpreet and Mr. Sandeep Walia conducted the stage kept the audience engaged. Dr. Savinder Pal proposed a vote of thanks to the chief guests for gracing the occasion with their valuable presence and also congratulated the organizers Ms. Reema Joshi and Ms. Rinka for the grand success of the event.
