National Space Day

Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal, the Department of Science, IQAC, and Prof. Puran Singh Society of Kamla Nehru College for Women celebrated “National Space Day” with great enthusiasm on August 23, 2025. The event was themed “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities.”

The program commenced with the warm welcome of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal and faculty members of the Department of Science. Ms. Isha Bhardwaj, Assistant Professor of Physics, delivered an engaging talk on the journey of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), highlighting milestones and the historic achievement of the successful Chandrayaan-3 landing.

As part of the celebrations, poster-making and declamation competitions were organized. In the poster-making competition. Kashish(B.Sc Sem 3),Satwinder(B.Sc Sem 3) and Manraj (B.Sc Sem 3)secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions, respectively while Muskan (B.Sc. Sem 1) won the consolation prize . In the declamation competition, Muskan(B.Sc Sem 5)Kashish (B.Sc Sem 3)and Daya( B.Sc Sem 1) bagged the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions and Nancy Gandhi (B.Sc. Sem 3)received the consolation prize.
Principal Dr. Savinder Pal motivated the students to adopt a positive and proactive approach towards research in space and science. She also shared her inspiring experience of meeting India’s first astronaut, Wg. Cdr. Rakesh Sharma.

The event witnessed the participation of 90 students and faculty members, concluding with the distribution of prizes to the winners. Dr. Savinder Pal congratulated the Department of Science for successfully organizing the program.
