Celebration of Van Mahotsav

Celebration of Van Mahotsav

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, celebrated Van Mahotsav on 5th August 2025 with the powerful theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” The green event was organized under the aegis of the Phagwara Environment Association (Regd.), highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability and student involvement.

The occasion was marked by a massive Tree Plantation Drive, which became the main highlight of the celebration. Over 120 students enthusiastically participated, planting saplings across the campus and nearby areas. The college also took the initiative to distribute plant saplings to students, encouraging them to take their first step toward environmental stewardship.

The event was graced by three esteemed chief guests- Dr. Akshita Gupta (I.A.S.), ADC-cum-Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Phagwara, Mr. Ram Paul Uppal, Mayor, Phagwara and Mr. Anish Bansal, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Phagwara.
All dignitaries appreciated the college’s initiative and emphasized the importance of youth participation in combating climate change through afforestation and awareness.
In addition to the plantation drive, an informative PPT presentation was delivered by Dr. Tavisha, Assistant Professor in Botany, shedding light on the ecological importance of trees and biodiversity conservation.

The event was coordinated through a collective effort of the ECO Club, NSS Unit, Buddy Group, and NCC Unit, whose 150 members worked tirelessly for the success of the program.

Principal Dr. Savinder Pal was present and highly appreciated the enthusiasm and dedication of the organizers. She congratulated everyone warmly and encouraged students to continue their contribution towards a greener and healthier planet.

The event served not only as a celebration but as a strong call to action—reminding all participants of their duty to “Plant Trees, Save Earth” and leave behind a greener legacy.
