Extension Lecture and Plantation Drive.

The ECO Club of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, organized a prestigious extension lecture and plantation drive on April 6, 2026, titled “Application of AI and Machine Learning in Agriculture, Biodiversity, and Climate Change.” Resource person Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Assistant Professor in Botany from Ramgarhia College, Phagwara, provided an exhaustive overview of daily AI examples—such as search algorithms and navigation—before detailing how precision farming, drones, and machine vision are revolutionizing the primary sector by monitoring crop health and abiotic stress.

This session focused on how AI and Machine Learning revolutionize agriculture through real-time crop monitoring, drone-based pest identification, and “Smart Irrigation” systems that predict water needs to combat climate change. Ms. Kaur also highlighted digital tools like the Kisan e-Mitra chatbot and AGMARKET analytics, which empower the sector by providing market intelligence and securing food systems.

Following the lecture, a green initiative was launched in the college’s Botanical Garden, where Director Academics Dr. Savinder Pal, Officiating Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur, Nodal Incharge Dr. Priyanka Aeri and other members joined the guest speaker to plant trees.

During the event, Director Academics Dr. Savinder Pal motivated the students by stating that they must transition from being mere observers of technological change to becoming active leaders in the fourth industrial revolution. Officiating Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur appreciated the efforts of the organizers and students, noting that such interdisciplinary initiatives are vital for producing socially conscious and technologically proficient graduates ready to tackle global challenges. In end Dr. Priyanka Aeri conveyed vote of thanks to everyone.
