The Home Science Association of Kamla Nehru College, Phagwara, recently organised an educational excursion for BA Home Science students to Rahimpur village in Hoshiarpur district on April 4, 2026. The visit was a perfect blend of learning and fun, offering students a unique opportunity to explore traditional weaving techniques and unwind at a scenic picnic spot.

The day began with a visit to a handmade textile production unit, where students gained hands-on experience in traditional weaving techniques, from spinning yarn to creating fabric. The intricate process greatly fascinated the students, who showed keen interest in learning about the craftsmanship involved.

The learning experience was followed by a fun-filled visit to the Bombay Picnic Spot in Hoshiarpur. The students enjoyed boating, savoured delicious eatables, and had a thrilling time on swings. The picnic spot provided a refreshing break from academic routines, allowing students to bond with their peers and faculty.

Led by Dr. Priyanka Aeri, the trip was a resounding success, providing valuable insights into traditional textiles and creating cherished memories. The students returned with smiles, eager to share their experiences with others. The trip was a testament to the college’s commitment to holistic education, combining academic learning with extracurricular activities.
