350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib
In accordance with the guidelines of the Government of Punjab, Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, conducted a special lecture series to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. The series commenced on 10 November 2025, with Principal Dr Savinder Pal delivering an insightful address on the life, teachings and supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.
On 11 November 2025, Ms Ramandeep Kaur from the Department of Punjabi shed light—through poetry—on Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib and the brave Sikhs who attained martyrdom alongside Him, in her talk titled ‘Teh Toon Tyag’.
Continuing the series, on 22 November 2025, Prof. Harpreet Singh from the Department of English spoke about the lives and sacrifices of Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Diala Ji.
The concluding lecture was delivered on 29 November 2025 by Dr Nimratdeep Kaur from the Department of Punjabi, who introduced students to the exemplary lives and sacrifices of Bhai Jaita Ji and Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara Ji. Around 100 students participated in this lecture series.
Addressing the gathering at the concluding session, Principal Dr Savinder Pal urged the students to draw inspiration from the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib and rise above caste and creed, stand for truth, and oppose injustice with courage. She emphasised that building a compassionate and just society requires learning from history. Remembering the teachings and unparalleled sacrifices of the Gurus, she said, is the truest tribute to them. She also appreciated and congratulated the organising team for successfully conducting the series.
