Celebration of Punjab Day

Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara celebrated Punjab Day on November 1, 2025, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal. The event was organized by the Amrita Pritam Punjabi Sahit Sabha.

Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Punjabi, spoke on the topic “Punjab Day: Historical and Contemporary Context.” She discussed the historical background of Punjab and the sacrifices made for the creation of the Punjabi-speaking state. She also shared her concerns about the present condition of Punjab and urged the youth to think consciously about these issues.

Student speaker Rupinder Kaur (B.A. Semester III) spoke about the passion and sweetness of the Punjabi language and the efforts made to preserve it. Anmol Kaur (11th, Non-Medical) highlighted academic initiatives promoting Punjabi.

Around 80 students participated enthusiastically in the event. The stage was conducted by Assistant Professor Harjinder Singh.

In her address, Principal Dr. Savinder Pal emphasized the importance of connecting the younger generation with Punjab’s history, which has faced many struggles and shaped a unique culture. She congratulated Dr. Ruminder and her team for organizing the event successfully.
