National Book Month
The National Book Month Celebration (October 2025) is being enthusiastically observed at Sh. Bhag Ram Handa Library of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara. The celebration, which commenced in October, will continue till 31st October 2025, featuring a series of engaging activities designed to promote reading habits and encourage regular library visits among students and staff.
As part of the ongoing celebration, a special event was organized on 25th October 2025 to honor the Library Star of the Month for the period October 2024 to September 2025. During the event, students and teachers with the highest number of library visits in each month were recognized for their dedication and passion for reading.
Principal Dr. Savinder Pal delivered an inspiring address highlighting the importance of being a book lover, the joy of knowledge sharing, and the Five Laws of Library Science. She also motivated students to make daily library visits a part of their academic routine.
The program was graced by Vice Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur, who appreciated the efforts of the library staff and congratulated the awardees for their enthusiasm towards books and learning. Around 40 students and several faculty members attended the function with great zeal.
In the coming days, the celebration will include a variety of literary activities such as essay writing competitions, quiz competitions, and a book exhibition, all aimed at inspiring creativity, testing knowledge, and deepening students’ engagement with books and literature.
The celebration will continue till 31st October 2025, with more literary events and reading sessions fostering a culture of lifelong learning and a deeper connection with books among the students and faculty of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara.
