International Day for Biological Diversity 2025
The event was jointly organized by the ECO Club and the Department of Science on 21st May, 2025. The day commenced with a vibrant poster-making competition, where students from various disciplines expressed their understanding and concern for biodiversity through creative artwork and impactful messages.
Following this, an insightful lecture on the theme of biodiversity was delivered by Dr. Tavisha Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany. She eloquently addressed the urgent need to conserve biological diversity in the face of escalating climate change, habitat loss, and pollution.
The event concluded with Dr. Savinder Pal, respected Principal of the college, acknowledged the efforts of the organizers (ECO Club and Science Department), and the enthusiastic participation of the students. In her address, she expressed concern over the increasing rate of species extinction, referencing the tragic disappearance of several native bird species from local ecosystems. She spoke about the declining visibility of tigers in safari parks and reflected on Project Tiger, once a pioneering initiative for wildlife conservation in India. Her words served as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to revive collective efforts toward wildlife protection and ecological balance. She urged students to become ambassadors of biodiversity and inspired students to take actionable steps, both locally and globally.
