A grand sports event was held at Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, on March 18th, 2025. The chief guests for this annual event were College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal, and Vice-Principal, Dr. Ruminder Kaur, who were warmly welcomed by the organising team with a planter. After the flag-hoisting ceremony, Dr. Savinder Pal formally inaugurated the sports fair by cutting the ribbon. She also took the salute at the march-past by the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers.The trials for the games were held on March 10th and 11th to select the participants. A variety of sports activities were organised for the students, including the 50-meter race, relay race, fitness hunt, tug of war, medicine ball throw, skipping, stapoo, badminton, and chess. Additionally, games like musical chairs and the 50-meter race for the college staff became special attractions of the event. To enhance the experience, students also presented folk songs and choreography. Approximately 550 students, along with faculty and non- faculty members, participated in the games. The stage was managed by Mr. Harjinder Singh and Mr. Harjit Virdi from the Punjabi Department. Special arrangements were made to provide food and refreshments for both students and staff.Dr. Savinder Pal congratulated the winners and participants, honouring them with medals , T-shirts and certificates. She emphasised the importance of sports in maintaining a healthy and fulfilling life, highlighting how sports refresh the body and provide peace of mind. She encouraged everyone to incorporate sports into their daily routines. She also extended her appreciation to Mr. Harvinder Chauhan, Ms. Isha, Ms. Shubhasmita Sahoo, and Mr. Harjinder Singh, members of the organising team, for their efforts in making the event a success.
