The Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with IQAC conducted a webinar on the topic “Importance of Milk and Milk Products in the Diet” on 26.05.21. Dr. Veena N., Assistant Professor in the Department of Dairy Chemistry at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, acted as the resource person. Ms. Priyanka, Head, Department of Science introduced the speaker and Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal extended a warm virtual welcome. In her address, Dr. Veena explained the production of Milk in India by sharing per capita availability. She also discussed milk utilization pattern in rural and urban areas in our country and various parts of world. She further explained various components of Milk and their significance. She also stressed on its consumption in human diet as milk and milk products are very important for proper absorption of minerals, prevention of microbial infections, physical and mental development. She illustrated the topic at hand with the help of PPt and statistical data. Dr. Savinder Pal expressed her gratitude to the resource person for her illuminating lecture and also asked the students to consume milk and its products as an essential part of their diet for boosting immunity in COVID times. She further congratulated Ms. Priyanka and her team for the grand success of webinar and motivated them for such endeavours in future also. In the end, Ms.Priyanka formally thanked the resource person, Ms. Veena N., the College Principal, Dr. Savinder Pal and other participants for being the part of the webinar. More than 100 participants including teachers and students attended this webinar.
