83rd Anniversary of ‘Quit India Movement’

Kamla Nehru College for Women observed the 83rd anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’ with great reverence under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Savinder Pal. The event was jointly organized by the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Society and Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Club in the form of a commemorative lecture, with Principal Dr. Savinder Pal herself as the resource person.

Head of the History Department, Dr. Kamlesh, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Savinder Pal and also greeted Vice Principal Dr. Ruminder Kaur.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Savinder Pal highlighted the Quit India Movement as a pivotal moment in India’s freedom struggle, launched by Mahatma Gandhi on August 8, 1942. She explained that the movement aimed to end British rule and secure complete independence. Despite India’s key contributions during World War II, the British refused to grant freedom, prompting a nationwide uprising. Dr. Savinder Pal emphasized that the movement significantly influenced the British decision to grant independence in 1947.

Around 150 students attended the lecture, which concluded with Dr. Kamlesh extending heartfelt thanks to Principal Dr. Savinder Pal for her insightful address and continuous visionary leadership.
