KNC cadets participate in Republic Day parade

Making the college proud, two NCC cadet of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara Ms. Amarpreet Kaur and Ms. Sakshi Thakur got the privilege of participating in the Republic Day parade held in New Delhi on January 26. Notably, they were the only candidate selected from Jalandhar zone for this honour of participating in the parade.

On their return to the college on Wednesday, they were given a rousing welcome by the college authorities led by Principal Dr. Kiran Walia. Extremely proud of this feat, Dr. Kiran Walia congratulated both the cadets and their teacher incharges on this achievement and also added that the college always encourages its girls to look forward and progress in every field. NCC incharges Ms. Jaideep Inder Kaur, Dr. Kanwaljit Singh, Dr. Rinka motivated the cadets to continue this winning streak.

While in Delhi for this event, the cadets also participated in various competitions like Left Guide, Flag Area, Stick Ordinary, etc. On securing this remarkable achievement, they were given merit certificate and a memento by Honorable President Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Vice President Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu and Chief of Army and Navy Staff. Governor of Punjab, Mr. V P Singh Badnore also gave them a sum of Rs. 11000 cash prize.

It may be mentioned that this is the second time that NCC cadets from the college got a chance to be a part of this event. Earlier, NCC cadet Jyoti Punia had also attended the camp in 2016.
